The Wayne City High School band went to the Fox Theater in St. Louis on Saturday, October 14 to go watch Beetle Juice. The band goes to the shows to appreciate the music and visuals and to help understand the work and effort the people on stage go through.
The band members really enjoy these trips to get them out of Wayne City and to give them the opportunity to go to places they may never visit after high school. Band member Kahlyn Steiner said, “I’ve wanted to see Beetle Juice for such a long time now, so now that I was given the chance to, I am extremely happy that I got to experience it.”
Other members had different opinions about the show like Nathan Barnard, “I’ve never watched the actual Beetle Juice movie, so I was going in blind. The first 10 minutes were very interesting and funny with their jokes, but cringy as the first act went on. The second act was about like the first act, just as funny and cringy. I would go watch the show again later in life.”
The band left the school at 9:30 a.m. and arrived back home at 7 p.m. The hour and half lunch before the show. The show was two hours and thirty minutes long, including intermission, and the day included three hours of driving as well. It was a whole day full of memories and excitement for the band members.
Band adviser Jessica Fagan said, “Band students have the opportunity to select shows from the St. Louis Symphony or Fox Theatre to attend through the year. Students can sign up for as many of these trips as they wish. We always enjoy the experience!” Many students feel these trips brighten up the year for the band members who choose to go.
