On Oct. 23, the Lady Indians volleyball team held senior night, honoring seniors Emma Griswold, Abigail Lane, and Kenzie Seidel, along with retiring Coach LaMar Choate. The event marked the very last home game against Thompsonville. The three seniors, recognized for their constant dedication and hard work, have each played volleyball throughout their four years of high school, contributing significantly to the programs achievements. Along with getting first, two years in a row, in the Midland Trail Conference Tournament, which has not been done before.
The team’s success is a statement to the dedication of their teammates and the guidance of Coach Choate, whom has coached 25 seasons. Choate was really happy with how the night went, along with the win against Thompsonville. The night was even more special when previous players came and supported Choate and the team.
“It was a great night. I got to see a bunch of former players and that meant a lot to me and we got to celebrate our seniors who are a very special group to me. And while doing all of that, the team got to claim the all time wins record for the program. I couldn’t have scripted it any better.”
Senior night is always a memorable and special occasion, especially for the seniors. Griswold said, “playing our last home game was kind of sad, but I am so thankful that I have gotten to be apart of this program the last 8 years of my life. These memories and teammates will always hold a very special place in my heart.” The Lady Indians started their regionals on October 28, playing Thompsonville to make it to the second round. The planned to leaving it all on the floor to make it to the championship. Winning a regional championship hasn’t been done since 1998 for the Lady Indians. Though the girls lost in the final round against Edwards County, the team felt proud of their effort and determination against a challenging team.
